God’s Storehouse

Howdy, Neighbor. People have been telling Phil he’s a good storyteller for a long time… so we are trying something new and pretty-much non-sales Just sharing occasional sweet stories, tall tales, and life lessons learned around these parts. Northwoods Notes are a new, semi-bi-irregular peek into the heart and mind of Phil Frasier… you can read or listen… whichever you prefer… and you are receiving a copy because you’re a current customer of Frasier’s Plumbing and Heating, Inc. We think you’ll like them, but you can unsubscribe any time by clicking on the link at the bottom. But we hope you give us a chance!

Out of the three of us who went to South Dakota, I’m the only one who ended up covered in chigger bites.

In the eleven years I’ve been traveling to this particular farm, I’ve only had four or five chigger bites. But this time, I must’ve landed in a nest.

Those nasty little buggers love me. But I don’t love them back.

We were at the farm putting out cameras to prepare for deer season. They give us a sneak peek at what’s in store and help us determine where to put our stands. We also get an opportunity to name our deer in advance. We call one buck “Triceratops” because he has an extra antler growing out of his head.

The cameras send photos to our phones. So even though I’m back home now, I can keep an eye on what’s happening in South Dakota. Whenever I get a new notification, I’m like, “Oooh yeah, what’s showing up?”

You never know what you’re gonna find. We recognize a few deer from last year who managed to survive another trip around the sun. It’s fun to see how they’ve changed in the past year. Then there’s always a big buckaroo that nobody’s ever seen before. That’s when the “Oooh Yeah’s” get even louder.

Preparing ahead of time gives us the best opportunity to harvest a nice buck.

But preparation isn’t just for deer season. It’s a good thing to practice in every season of life.

I strive to always be prepared. Whether it’s for work or play, with friends or family… I wanna be ready for whatever opportunities come my way.

That’s what we’re made to do.

I believe God’s got a storehouse with shelves stocked full of blessings.

undefined

And those blessings come in all shapes and sizes. It could be as simple as a quick conversation with someone at a gas station. A chance encounter may provide just the right amount of encouragement they – or you – need to get you through the day.

That’s a blessing on the shelf in God’s Storehouse. Those kinds of blessings are all around us.

But if we’re unprepared, we’ll miss ‘em. And before too long, we find our shelves are empty.

Neighbors, we’re only here for a short time. So let’s make sure we’re not missing out on doing something we should’ve done or talkin’ to someone we should’ve encouraged. It’s easy to lose focus when distracted by worldly things.

Are you prepared to stock up some shelves today? Our Father’s got plenty of room for ya in his storehouse.

Take care, neighbor. Take good care.

P.S. – God’s blessed us with so many good things. So why the heck did he invent chiggers? That’s one of the questions I’m gonna ask him when I get to Heaven.
